Aznauryan Igor

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Medico-Technical Sciences, Pediatric Surgeon, Pediatric Ophthalmologist, founder and Head of Yasniy Vzor Children’s Eye Clinics in Russia.

  • Recipient of Svyatoslav Fyodorov Prize, A.Chizhevsky Prize. Decorated with orders “Pride of Russia”, “Star of Chizhevsky”.
  • The author of more than 150 publications, including foreign academic publications, developed more than 20 innovations and inventions.
  • Reviewer of the British Journal of Ophthalmology.
  • He conducted more than 20,000 operations with the success rate of 95%. In the remaining 5% of cases, there was a significant improvement.
  • He developed a principle of mathematical modeling of pediatric strabismus surgery and a method for high-precision low-traumatic surgery. Dr Aznauryan has implemented more than 10 methods of therapeutic and surgical pediatric eye treatment into clinical practice. He developed unique methods of surgical treatment of concomitant strabismus characterized with small and unstable angles, of paralytic strabismus, nystagmus. Together with American partners, he launched a project to develop a new method for treating the pathology of binocular (two-eyed) functions among children and adolescents.
  • Developed a binocular optometric complex (BOK-1). In 2009, the work performed under his leadership and dedicated to the tactics of surgical treatment of paralytic strabismus was named best work of the year at the international ophthalmological forum.
  • In 2015, he translated into Russian the book of his American colleague Burton J. Kushner, M.D., the John W. and Helen Doolittle Professor and Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA, entitled “Problems of the oculomotor system in children and adults. The key to understanding.” In 2015, he was honored with the highest award of the Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences – the “Star of Chizhevsky” order.
